Newcastle’s situation means that as the days tick down towards the end of the January transfer window, the rumours will continue to ramp up.
A report from the French media claims Christopher Wooh is a potential target.
Where have these claims come from?
The report has come from French outlet L’Equipe.
They say that despite Newcastle closing in on Diego Carlos from Sevilla, they also want another, younger central defender.
Wooh is exactly that, and the report says that a swoop could come before the end of January.

How good is Wooh?
Wooh is 20, with just 5 Ligue 1 starts to his name for RC Lens this season.
He has clearly impressed in those matches, but it would be a big jump to make mid-season to come and play in a relegation battle.
He looks like one for the future but Newcastle have prioritised established players so far this month and the impending Carlos deal looks set to be down similar lines.

Where would he fit into Newcastle’s plans?
He would surely not be really expected to come in mid-season and make the difference in a relegation battle.
If he had Carlos beside him, that would help him develop and perhaps give him confidence.
But this interest looks like one for the summer, if Newcastle are still in the Premier League and can start to blood some younger players without so much immediate pressure.
That said, any defensive reinforcements would be greeted with an open mind by the fans given the leaky nature of the backline so far this term.
