Newcastle United will soon be in their first summer transfer window since the takeover of the club back in October.

The club have nine games remaining this season, and are currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Right now, they are nine points above the relegation zone, which is a healthy position to be in.

Eddie Howe has overseen some great results and performances in 2022, and there is real optimism now that the club won’t be slipping into the Championship next season.

Things have totally changed at the club, and the improved team spirit alone is something that is likely to carry Newcastle to safety.

Newcastle retaining their Premier League status is absolutely paramount. Not least because it will completely affect who they can and can’t sign later this year.

One man, Newcastle have surely got to be looking at is the Juventus striker Paulo Dybala.

The Argentina international is leaving the club as a free agent at the end of the season, as confirmed by CEO Maurizio Arrivabene (via Metro).

That is a big deal, as Dybala is a very high-profile name.

In 283 games for Juve, he has scored 113 goals and made 48 assists.

He’s made the Serie A Team of the Season four times since 2015, and there’s no doubt he is a quality player.

One gets the feeling that Newcastle need to bring in a truly marquee name this summer. One player that completely captivates supporters just by his mere signing alone.

Dybala would be someone who falls into that category.

It would be a bit like when Manchester City landed Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid back in 2011.

That transfer happened a couple of years after their takeover. But it was a marquee signing that had huge hype attached to it.

Newcastle would make a serious statement and show massive ambition landing Dybala

It’s likely plenty of other clubs will be sniffing around Dybala this summer.

The fact he won’t cost anything in terms of a transfer fee will appeal massively to a lot of teams.

Newcastle need another quality forward player. At the moment, Chris Wood and Callum Wilson are the strikers. Two good options, but both are around the age of 30 and aren’t long-term solutions.

Wilson has been quality when he’s played, but everyone knows of his injury record.

Newcastle have the financial might to be able to offer Dybala a big signing-on bonus and wage package.

Obviously it’s an exciting project, so officials have surely got to test the waters and see what the South American thinks about a potential switch to St. James’ Park.
