While Newcastle United have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson again this season, Alan Shearer has hinted that the Magpies need another striker.
The Toon legend recently stated that he thinks Newcastle need three more signings this summer: a left-back, a centre-back and a centre-forward.
That sounds fanciful from Shearer, who is preparing to watch his boyhood club compete in the Champions League for the first time since he was a player.
That is why he is keen for the club to strengthen as much as possible. Despite this, another forward sounds unlikely due to the finances involved. Eddie Howe has said himself that he does not envision the club signing a striker this summer.
However, if Newcastle change their mind and look to enhance their striking options, Folarian Balogun could be an option.

Newcastle told to bid for Folarin Balogun
That is the view of former USA international Eric Wynalda, who has suggested that Newcastle should make a move to sign the Arsenal striker this summer.
Balogun looks likely to leave the Emirates, but only if someone agrees to pay his £50million asking price. That would make him a very expensive signing, but Wynalda believes Newcastle is one of multiple Premier League clubs that should be interested in the 22-year-old.
“Yes, I would like to see Folarin Balogun remain in the Premier League,” he told the Express.
“He is a talented player with a lot of potential, and I think he would be a good fit for a number of clubs in the league.
“Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace are all clubs that are looking to strengthen their attacking options, and they would all be able to offer Balogun regular playing time. I think it would be good for Balogun to stay in the Premier League.”
No chance Newcastle will make a move
At £50million, Wynalda can think again if he reckons Newcastle are going to make a move.

While Balogun is a man in demand after scoring 21 goals on loan in Ligue 1 last season, there is no chance Newcastle are going to spend that kind of money on what would effectively be a third-choice striker.
Getting another striker would be great, but it is a luxury that we simply cannot afford right now. Instead, we will have to stick with Isak and Wilson, who really proved their quality last season.
Injury is a concern, which is why another forward would be great. And having someone like Balogun would be perfect.
But he is going to cost more than we can afford, so Newcastle will have to be creative if their two strikers struggle for fitness. If that is the case, it will likely be Anthony Gordon leading the line.
