Newcastle United have now reportedly agreed a fee with Chelsea to sign Lewis Hall.

It was reported on Wednesday that the 18-year-old was interested in a move to Newcastle, as the boyhood Toon fan eyes up the chance to work under Eddie Howe and play in the Champions League.

A deal for the teenager is now seemingly close, with Chelsea accepting an offer from the Magpies for the talented defender.

This transfer is suddenly moving very fast, and it looks like Howe is going to get the final piece of the jigsaw. He stated last week that he wanted the club to make one more signing, and that is on course to happen sooner than anticipated.

Newcastle are edging closer to signing Hall, and now the Telegraph have stated how much he is going to cost.

Newcastle agree £28m deal with Chelsea for Lewis Hall

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle have agreed to pay Chelsea an initial £28million for Hall. They state that the fee has the potential increase with add-ons.

It had looked like Hall was going to go out on loan this summer, with Crystal Palace agreeing to sign the ‘magnificent‘ left-back.

However, Newcastle have swooped in and made an offer that the Telegraph describe as ‘too good to turn down’ for Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side need to sell due to a flurry of transfer activity. They broke the British transfer record to land Moises Caicedo for £115million, and Romeo Lavia is set to follow him. He is going to cost £58million.

Those investments have forced Chelsea to sell, handing Newcastle the opportunity to land Hall.

£28million is a lot of money to pay for someone with just 11 senior appearances to his name, but Newcastle are paying for potential, just like they did with Tino Livramento.

With a deal agreed and Hall keen on the move, it feels like only a matter of time before he officially becomes a Newcastle United player.
