Newcastle United have received a major boost in their quest to sign Lewis Hall from Chelsea.

The 18-year-old is one of four left-backs who are on Newcastle‘s radar right now, with Eddie Howe eyeing one more signing before the transfer window closes.

The likes of Kieran Tierney, Marc Cucurella and Juan Miranda are targets for the Magpies, but it is the interest in Hall that is most interesting.

He has only made 11 senior appearances for Chelsea, but is incredibly highly rated by the Blues. Frank Lampard was full of praise for his ‘quality‘ when he was in charge at Stamford Bridge last season.

That is why Newcastle are interested, and now i News have provided an exciting update on the Magpies’ chances of bringing him to St James’ Park.

Lewis Hall open to joining Newcastle

According to i News, Hall would be open to a move to Newcastle this summer. They state that the youngster, who is a Toon fan, is looking for a substantial pay rise.

The Magpies would surely be able to accommodate that, and i News suggest that Hall is now the club’s top target ahead of Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney.

The report states that Newcastle have enquired about the left-back, and will either look to do a permanent deal or a loan switch with an obligation to buy.

Hopefully Chelsea change their stance over Hall

Whether or not Chelsea go for that remains to be seen. It has previously been claimed that they do not want to sell Hall.

He was set to sign for Crystal Palace on loan and sign a new deal with the Blues, but that appears to have been put on the back burner. A potential move to Newcastle has taken centre stage, and Chelsea might have to be more receptive to selling given their recent transfer activity.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have bought Moises Caicedo for £115million, and are set to sign Romeo Lavia for £58million. Those investments could mean that Chelsea need to sell or potentially feel the wrath of FFP.

That could give Newcastle the boost they need, with Eddie Howe’s side obviously believing that a deal can be done. If not, Toon officials would not waste their time.

Hall is interested in the move, and Newcastle are interested in him. Now we just need to Chelsea to change their minds and become interested in selling – or loaning.
