Newcastle United have made contact with the agent of a 2022 World Cup winner who could be available for just £11m in January.
Roma are hoping they can keep hold of their talented striker Paulo Dybala, but a release clause in his contract has resulted in a lot of interest from elsewhere.
A report from Corriere della Sera has claimed that both Newcastle and Aston Villa have made contact with Dybala’s agent with the clause set to expire on January 15.
Newcastle on the lookout for bargain striker
Dybala is an experienced head who knows how to win trophies having won five league titles with Juventus and very recently playing a key role in Argentina’s World Cup triumph just over a year ago.
It is a bit of a surprise that the 30-year-old is available for such a low price given all the experience and talent that he would bring, but it also depends on if Dybala himself wants the move.
Roma are currently struggling a bit in Italy under Jose Mourinho having exited the Coppa Italia last night to rivals Lazio while in the league they are in eighth, 19 points off of Inter in first.
Dybala, however, is actually having quite a good season personally having recorded 11 goal contributions in 13 Serie A games, though he has been dealing with some injury problems.
Newcastle have previously held interest in the attacker, but nothing ever came of the interest in the summer and the rumours eventually died down, though they are now starting to resurface.

A move for Dybala makes little sense for the Magpies
It’s not that Newcastle couldn’t use someone of Dybala’s ‘outstanding‘ talent, but it would put Eddie Howe in a bit of an awkward position when it comes to choosing his strikers.
Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak have both been quality for Newcastle when they are fit, and it doesn’t seem likely that Dybala will want to play third choice to the attacking duo.
Likewise, it’s difficult to see Wilson accepting more of a backup role than he already has given his determination to join the 100 club in the Premier League.
It may be that we see the former Bournemouth man be replaced in the summer, but in terms of a January move this just wouldn’t make much sense when there’s a number of positions Newcastle are desperate to improve in.
