Dzeko recently joined Inter Milan after running down his contract at AS Roma.

He’s made a fine start to life with the Nerzzaurri, scoring 11 goals so far in 2021/22.

Obviously at the moment, Newcastle are in a very precarious situation.

The team have won just one game all season, and the threat of relegation to the Championship is very real.

The focus next month should be on signing defenders. No team has conceded more than Newcastle so far in the league.

But another striker would be nice, with Callum Wilson currently shouldering a big goalscoring burden.

Dzeko may be in the final years of his playing career now, but he has not shown many signs of decline in terms of goalscoring.

And obviously, he has previous in England, having spent several seasons with Manchester City, whom he won two Premier League titles with.

For the Citizens he scored 72 goals, with 50 of those coming in the English top-flight.

So not only does he still score goals fairly regularly, but he is hugely experienced and has won titles in the past, which would be ideal for the Newcastle dressing room.

Some supporters have spoken about the need for defenders next month.

That is undoubtedly where Newcastle’s priorities should lie.

But plenty seem to be on board with the idea of Newcastle signing Dzeko:
