Newcastle United fans have been reacting to an official announcement that Kell Watts has joined Wigan Athletic on loan.
The central defender will spend the whole of the 2021/22 season with the League One outfit.
It’s a return to the English third tier for Watts, who excelled in the division last term with Plymouth Argyle.
He made 44 appearances in the league for the Pilgrims, and a further six in the FA and EFL Cups.
It had been reported a couple of weeks ago that Watts could well be heading out on loan, despite him impressing for the first-team in pre-season.

Watts caught the eye, prompting Steve Bruce to say that he was privately very pleased with the 21-year-old.
But it seems he didn’t quite do enough to force the manager to keep him around.
Speaking about his move, Watts said (wiganathletic.com): “Pre-season with Newcastle has been good; I’ve played a full game and a couple of 45-minute run outs too. Physically I’m in good shape and I’m ready to go.”

One wonders whether this could potentially now mean a new centre-back is inbound at St. James’ Park.
On social media, fans have been giving their reactions to the news and quite a few were less than impressed:
