Newcastle United youngster Kell Watts is apparently already being lined up for a loan move by a couple of teams.

The 21-year-old was one of the only bright sparks at the weekend in the pre-season friendly defeat to York City.

Watts was handed a full 90 minutes, featuring on the left of a three-man defence before shifting across into the middle.

It was a solid first outing of the summer for Watts, who was always calm on the ball. Fans were certainly left impressed by his showing.

According to the Chronicle, there are already a couple of clubs interested in taking Watts on loan.

The youngster was sent out on loan last season to Plymouth Argyle, where he made an impressive 50 appearances in total.

He’s also previously had spells with Mansfield Town and Stevenage.

Newcastle mustn’t do anything hasty as teams eye Kell Watts loan

Interesting may be mounting already in Watts.

But Newcastle would be wise to allow Watts the chance to stake his claim in pre-season.

The club are looking for a new central defender, but youngster Watts has the potential to save the Magpies some money.

Steve Bruce should give him a fair crack, before deciding whether to allow one of these loan suitors to take him.
