Newcastle United are now facing competition from Aston Villa for Axel Tuanzebe.

According to the Telegraph, Dean Smith’s side are now keen to sign the Manchester United player, who is set to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Villa, of course, have already signed Tuanzebe twice before.

They took him on loan for the second half of the 2017/18 season, and then again for the whole of 2018/19.

Steve Bruce managed the Midlands outfit at the time of Tuanzebe’s first stint, and knows his qualities well.

Newcastle have been linked with a loan move for Tuanzebe.

But bad news arrived yesterday as reports claimed the Red Devils are after a huge £5 million loan fee.

As everybody knows, finances are very tight for the Magpies this summer, and a £5 million loan fee would put a sizeable dent in the club’s budget.

Villa’s interest in Tuanzebe is definitely not good.

They are club that would likely have no qualms about paying such an amount to take Tuanzebe on loan. The Telegraph say Villa are actually looking at a permanent deal, so clearly they have cash to spend.

On social media, some Toon fans have expressed their dismay about Villa earmarking Tuanzebe.

Given he’s been with them before, a number of people are convinced the 23-year-old now won’t be coming to St. James’ Park.
