Newcastle United are looking to upgrade their attack this summer and there’s one long-term target and talented winger in particular who could be made available.

The Geordies had been tracking Juventus winger Federico Chiesa since the summer of 2023 without any success, though they may have a chance to secure an affordable deal in the coming months.

A new report from Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that the winger could be available for as little as £30m as Juventus look to move on from one of their star performers.

Star winger is ready to make a move

Chiesa has suffered a number of bad injuries while in Turin and Juventus are now looking to cash in on the Italian international while they still can, looking to promote Kenan Yildiz as their new starting attacker.

It’s also believed that Chiesa, previously described as being ‘flawless‘, is ready to part ways with Juventus and start fresh with a number of clubs likely to be interested in him including Newcastle and Premier League rivals Liverpool.

The Merseyside club are preparing for life after Jurgen Klopp and potentially after Mohammed Salah as well as they could go through a complete overhaul of the summer, and Chiesa is one name they want to replace the Egyptian with.

The £30m fee shouldn’t be an issue for either club, it’s just whether they see him fitting in their current style of play and if they are willing to take a risk on his injury record which looks to have taken another hit this week after he didn’t train with the team on Thursday.

Newcastle’s search for a new winger continues

Newcastle will have a few players capable of playing down the right-wing ahead of the news season, so numbers isn’t the issue, but the options they have either don’t have the experience or just aren’t effective enough.

Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy are currently the two options Eddie Howe has at his disposal but neither are Champions League quality which is what they will want to compete for next season.

Yankuba Minteh will be an alternative option as he returns from his loan from Feyenoord where he has really impressed and experienced European football, but he still lacks experience and it isn’t clear yet of he could cut it in the Premier League.

It’s certainly one position that Newcastle are going to consider a high priority to take them to the next level and if Chiesa can stay fit he’s got the track record both in Italy and internationally to suggest he could be a perfect option.
