Newcastle United have recently been named as one of several clubs looking to move for Juventus ace Federico Chiesa this summer.
The 25-year-old 41-times capped Italy international is now said to be open to a move this summer with Juventus expecting to want at least €40million (£34million) for his services, according to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness).
Newcastle join Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich in their admiration of the winger.
Chiesa had a very injury-hit season at Juventus last term
Federico Chiesa can play all across the front three but plays primarily on the left for Juventus where he notched four goals and six assists in 33 appearances in all competitions last season. Although he only amassed 1483 minutes across those appearances indicating that he was used pretty sparingly.
The reason behind his small contribution last season is one which is a cause for concern. Chiesa spent the first two months of the season sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury along with a couple of instances of muscle fatigue, a knee injury and a flare up of the cruciate injury.

The Italian ‘superstar‘ managed to go from April to the end of the season without any further knocks, so, with a full pre-season behind him he could be back to full fitness. His goal for Italy against Netherlands on Sunday hinted that he’s well on his way back to his best.
The report in Italy suggests that Chiesa is now looking for a new challenge and is thinking about making a move. Although it’s thought that Germany is his current preferred destination, Newcastle can not be ruled out completely.
Champions League football could be the key for Newcastle’s bid
It’s thought that Newcastle being able to offer Champions League football puts them ahead of Chelsea in the race for Chiesa, and therefore the same could be said for Liverpool, but Bayern remain strong competitors.

Chiesa has said that if he is to move he wants to find ‘a path away from Juventus without any tears’. I’m not sure how he will manage that having played there for the last 13 years. But you know, moving to another team playing in black and white might go some way to dulling the pain … maybe?
Okay, that’s unlikely, but now that we know Chiesa is open to a move, we shouldn’t waste any time throwing our hat into the ring as if Bayern come in first we will probably lose any chance we have of signing him.
