Newcastle United are looking to sign multiple players who play in the Premier League, but one is currently ‘unlikely’ to join the Magpies.
Toon officials are having to be creating in the final few weeks of the transfer window, as Eddie Howe looks to add another defender to his squad.
Monday morning brought news of fresh interest in Kieran Tierney and Marc Cucurella. Newcastle are looking at potentially signing one of them on loan with an option or an obligation to buy.
Newcastle would also like to do a similar style of deal for a right-sided centre-back, but that might be more challenging due to the options available.
It is going to be a very interesting end to the transfer window for Newcastle, and now the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has provided on update on what the club are trying to do.

Newcastle ‘unlikely’ to sign Joachim Andersen
Hope sent out a tweet on Monday night about Newcastle’s interest in Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall, while he also provided an update on a potential move for Joachim Andersen. The Crystal Palace defender has been heavily linked with joining Newcastle, but it does not sound like a deal is on the horizon.
He wrote on Twitter: “Understand NUFC are exploring move for Chelsea’s Lewis Hall but are at limit of spend & must be “creative”. Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney & Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella others discussed at LB but nothing close. Joachim Andersen & Antonio Silva high on list at CB but v unlikely re cost.”
The situation involving Hall is very interesting, as it looked like he was set to join Crystal Palace on loan for the season. However, that deal has not been completed and has led to Newcastle seemingly making a fresh move.
Whether or not a deal for the 18-year-old is possible remains to be seen, but Hope appears to be less optimistic about Newcastle’s chances of signing Andersen.
The Daily Mail reported believes that a deal for the Denmark international is ‘unlikely’ because of how much he will cost. It was reported earlier in the summer that Palace want at least £40million, two year after signing him for £17million.

With a deal for Andersen, or Antonio Silva who Hope also mentions, seemingly not on the cards, Newcastle might have to shelve their centre-back search. The Magpies are not going to just sign someone for the sake of it – that is not something the club has done since the change of ownership.
Another player who has been linked is Edmond Tapsoba, and it will be interesting to see if that deal comes to the fore following the latest news about Andersen.
As always with Newcastle in the transfer market, there appear to be a lot of spinning plates as the club do their best to keep their cards close to their chest.
