Newcastle United are in desperate need of reinforcements right now, particularly in attack.
This injury crisis is crippling Newcastle, with both of Eddie Howe’s senior strikers currently out of action.
It is hoped that Alexander Isak will return from a groin injury after the international break, but it is not good news regarding Callum Wilson.
The 31-year-old missed the defeat to Bournemouth, with Eddie Howe worried he would be out for weeks with a hamstring problem. That looks like it is going to be the case, with the Telegraph reporting that Wilson will miss the next six weeks due to injury.
That is a huge blow, and highlights how desperate Newcastle are for another striker.
They are looking to sign someone young who can grow and develop at St James’ Park, and it looks like they have found the ideal candidate.
The Magpies have recently been linked with signing Marcos Leonardo, who is a 20-year-old Brazilian striker who plays for Santos. He already has more than 200 appearances at club level, scoring more than 50 goals.
Leonardo has been likened to Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero by South American football expert Tim Vickery, and he is now a player who Newcastle are planning to bid for.

Newcastle plan to make Marcos Leonardo bid
According to Bolavip Brasil, Newcastle United are currently the favourites to sign Marcos Leonardo from Santos.
That is extremely encouraging, and the report adds that the Magpies are preparing a bid for the January transfer window. They report that Newcastle will offer a deal worth £15.75million for the forward, including add-ons.
Given the amount of interest in Leonardo, that sounds like it would be a very good price for the talented Brazilian.
If he did move to Tyneside, he would get the chance to play alongside fellow countrymen Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, who are idolised at St James’ Park.
Leonardo would get the same treatment, and could be lionised even more given the fact he is a goalscorer. If you can put the ball in the back of the net, you will be a hero to Newcastle fans.
With so many other clubs interested, Newcastle need to move fast if they are to sign Leonardo. Hopefully they do just that, as he sounds absolutely perfect for the role of understudy to Isak and Wilson before developing into a star in black and white.
