Newcastle United have been linked with the Thuram brothers ever since late 2022, and now the Magpies are reportedly seriously considering a move for the youngest sibling.
The sons of World Cup winner Lilian Thuram both look set to be on the move this summer, with Marcus due to become a free agent. It has been announced that he will leave Borussia Monchengladbach when his contract expires at the end of this month.
The forward has been linked with a move to St James’ Park, but it now looks like Newcastle are more interested in bringing in his brother Khephren, who plays for Ligue 1 side Nice and has attracted the attention of Toon head of recruitment Steve Nickson.
Newcastle considering Khephren Thuram move
According to the Telegraph, the Magpies are now seriously considering making a move to sign Khephren Thuram. They state that he would cost around £30million, which is a reasonable fee for a young player with so much potential.
The 22-year-old looks like someone who could be a real force in the Premier League, while Newcastle have made a habit of snapping up young stars from the top flight of French football. In January 2022 it was Bruno Guimaraes, and in the summer of 2022 it was Sven Botman.

Now it is 2023, and Newcastle are looking at another Ligue 1 talent, and someone who is also a target for Liverpool. The Reds are looking to revamp their midfield, and have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Next on their radar is Thuram, who has been described as ‘fantastic‘ by his manager Didier Digard.
Eddie Howe’s side face serious competition if they do decide to make a move for Thuram, and it could be the first real test of just how much pulling power the Champions League gives us. While Liverpool are a bigger club, they do not have the luxury of competing in Europe’s elite competition next season.
We do, and hopefully that could give us an edge if we do go all in for Thuram. Hopefully we do, as he looks like a major talent who could do very well at St James’ Park.
