Newcastle United are looking to ramp things up in the transfer window, it seems.

While Newcastle have brought in three players already, it’s been a fairly understated start to the summer.

That will no doubt have been partly because of the PSR frenzy that saw the club sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively in order to avoid a ten-point deduction by the Premier League, of course.

Still, few would doubt that it’s been a slow start to the window.

There is hope that Eddie Howe will be able to develop Lloyd Kelly nicely but the other two signings have come in goal, where Nick Pope will surely continue to be the No.1 anyway.

However, all that could change rather quickly.

According to GIVEMESPORT, the club are keen to make a minimum of two signings in the coming weeks.

Howe is said to be desperate to have more options in his squad for the new season ahead, with a new right-winger and another central defender thought to be on the agenda.

There is reportedly a desire to get the deals done before the clash with Southampton at St James’ Park to kick off next season.

Newcastle do not have long to get the squad ready

Much of Howe’s first-team squad are back in for pre-season training already, while Bruno Guimaraes will return soon after Brazil’s exit from the Copa America.

Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon will also be back sooner rather than later, no matter what happens to England in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final.

With that in mind, it gives the club just over a month to get new signings done and bedded in before they host the Saints on Saturday 17 August.
