Newcastle United appear to be ready to try and an upgrade on Miguel Almiron this summer.

Indeed, manager Eddie Howe is believed to want to bring in a new right-winger as soon as possible to strengthen a frontline already boasting a lot of goal scoring potential.

Almiron could reportedly still leave Newcastle this summer but an upgrade is seemingly being sought regardless of what happens.

With Paul Mitchell now through the door as a sporting director, expect transfer talk to go into overdrive.

Now, it seems the club are considering making the most out of missing out on Michael Olise.

The former Crystal Palace winger was thought to have been a target at St James’ Park but ultimately joined Bayern Munich on some pretty significant wages.

That, however, has seemingly led Newcastle to another potential target.

Olise’s arrival could spell the end for former Arsenal winger, Serge Gnabry.

The forward has gone from strength-to-strength since leaving the Gunners for Bayern, with former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hailing him as “dominant” and admitting he was “sad” to have lost him.

Newcastle interested in a move for Serge Gnabry

According to the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (page 78 on 14/07/2024), Newcastle are weighing up a move for the 29-year-old.

It is said that Gnabry is facing an uncertain future in Bavaria and a £40m bid from Newcastle is being considered.

Serge Gnabry injury record is bad news for Newcastle

Newcastle do not need more injured players next season, having had to work through a seemingly constant absentee crisis last time out.

While Gnabry has no doubt impressed for Bayern and would be something of a statement signing, there are risks involved.

According to Transfermarkt data, he missed 28 games last season alone due to various ailments. Approaching 30, there’s certainly reason to worry about his fitness.
