Newcastle United have been rejected by Hugo Ekitike twice before, but he might not get a third opportunity to say no to the Magpies.
The forward had the chance to sign for Newcastle in 2022, but rejected Eddie Howe’s side on two separate occasions before agreeing a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
In the aftermath, there were no hard feelings from Howe. He was as classy as ever, calling Ekitike a ‘very talented’ player.
However, he has not really showcased that talent at PSG, leading to speculation that he will be on the way out.
Newcastle linked with Hugo Ekitike
With Ekitike seemingly set to leave PSG soon, the rumours are beginning to circulate that he could now be on his way to the Premier League after his 2022 snub.
In fact, it has even been claimed that Newcastle could make a fresh move for the French forward. It has been claimed that the Magpies could make a loan move, while it has also been suggested that Dan Ashworth could look to include an option to buy in any deal for the youngster.
Given the injuries to Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, a fresh move for Ekitike would make sense. He is a young player with a lot of potential, and someone who the Toon hierarchy are clearly very fond of.
But while it might make sense, that does not mean it will happen.

Ekitike apparently will not join Newcastle
The Athletic have provided an update on Newcastle’s interest in Hugo Ekitike. And their update is that there is no interest at all.
They have reported that Newcastle ‘will not’ be moving to St James’ Park in January. That is a fairly unanimous statement, so they must be confident that Toon officials are not preparing a fresh move for the Frenchman.
That might be for the best, as he is a player who would really need to win the fans over if he were to move to the North East. The Toon Army did not like the way he treated the club in 2022, so perhaps a move for someone else would be wise.
