Newcastle United have been linked with signing Jarrod Bowen, but a deal for the West Ham forward is very unlikely.
The Magpies are looking to sign a winger ahead of the new season, and Bowen is rumoured to be Newcastle’s top target.
He would certainly be an exceptional addition to Eddie Howe’s squad, but there is surely no chance of him arriving at St James’ Park.
Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Bowen to Newcastle is a ‘non-starter’, with West Ham looking to keep the 27-year-old at the London Stadium.
Newcastle ‘in the mix’ to sign Pedro Neto
Fortunately, Bowen is not the Magpies’ only target. Newcastle have also been linked with Pedro Neto, who could be on his way out of Wolves this summer.
Neto is also a target for Tottenham, and HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that both clubs are in talks for the 24-year-old speedster.

“I think Pedro Neto is much likelier for Newcastle than Jarrod Bowen,” he said.
“Wolves do not need to sell, but Neto does have a price. £60million will get you Pedro Neto, and his people are in talks with a number of clubs, such as Newcastle and Tottenham. They are the main two, but Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are also fans of the player.
“Newcastle are in the mix. I haven’t had any indication on what his preference is yet. I think his agent is doing a good job of assessing the options and putting them to him.
“I wouldn’t rule Newcastle out, but I would not make them favourites at this stage. I think Neto will move, and Wolves will get that £60million for him.
“I think Newcastle would be willing to pay that amount. It will come down to where the player wants to go, rather than the highest bidder.”
Only one concern regarding Neto possibly signing for Newcastle
Newcastle are in the mix to sign Neto this summer, and a deal for the Portugal international makes much more sense that possibly signing Bowen.
Neto will be much cheaper, while he is also younger. When you look at Newcastle’s recruitment blueprint, Wolves’ number seven looks like a much more probable target.
He has proven to be a top class Premier League winger, and would certainly be an improvement on Miguel Almiron.
Neto has the same speed, but is much more decisive in the final third. He got 14 goal contributions in 24 appearances last season, whereas Almiron only managed eight goal contributions in 45 appearances.
However, there is one major concern when it comes to the Portuguese attacker. It has been reported that Newcastle are worried about Neto’s injury record, as he has had his fair share of problems over the years. During the past three seasons with Wolves, Neto has missed 59 Premier League games.
The last thing Newcastle need is another injury-prone player after what happened last season, with so many players succumbing to fitness issues.
But if Newcastle have confidence that Neto is over his problems then he would be a fantastic signing. However, there is a lot of competition for his signature.
