Newcastle United are looking to sign a centre-back this summer, and may have seen a potential option while they were watching Anthony Gordon shine for England.
Gordon has spent the summer with the England Under-21s, who had a tournament to remember. They won the Under-21 European Championship, beating Spain 1-0 in the final.
It is the first time England have won the trophy since 1984, and they did it with a really talented group of players who should go right to the top.
That is what Newcastle hope will happen to Gordon, who won the player of the tournament award for his efforts in a Three Lions shirt.
Now the Magpies could potentially reunite him with a player who was also pivotal during England’s summer of success.

Newcastle big fans of Taylor Harwood-Bellis
According to 90min, Newcastle are ‘long-term admirers’ of Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
The 21-year-old plays his club football for Manchester City, but was the captain at the heart of England’s defence out in Georgia.
Harwood-Bellis was exceptional, taking his club form to the international stage. He spent last season on loan at Burnley, where he played a key role in them securing promotion back to the Premier League.
Now THB is being linked with a move away from his parent club Man City, with Nottingham Forest and Fulham keen on a deal for the defender. However, 90min add that Newcastle and West Ham could also enter the conversation, having been fans of the youngster for a while.
He is now in the final year of his Man City contract, which means he could be sold this summer. That could be good news for Newcastle, who are eyeing a young central defender just like him.

Newcastle want someone who can play as a right-sided centre-back, providing cover for Fabian Schar. If they get someone young enough, the overall goal will be for him to take Schar’s place in the starting XI.
Harwood-Bellis could certainly do that, and he would likely receive a ringing endorsement from Gordon. The Toon winger spoke about the tight-knit group that guided the young Three Lions to glory.
Character is very important in football, and it clearly helped the England Under-21s this summer. It is also a big part of Newcastle’s success, which suggests Harwood-Bellis might be a decent fit on Tyneside.
For now the club are just admirers, but he could prove to be an astute addition if Newcastle formalise their interest.
