Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon can now boast a winner’s medal after being part of the England Under 21s side that lifted the European Championship last night.

As well as lifting the U21 Euros trophy Newcastle‘s flying winger also picked up the Player of the Tournament along the way which is an amazing feat given some of the names who were involved in the tournament, including our new signing Sandro Tonali.

Anthony Gordon set his sights getting into perfect shape before the Premier League kicks off again and looking at his performances for England in the U21 Euros he’s well on his way to achieving his goal.

Anthony Gordon received a ton of love from Newcastle players

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the team’s achievement Gordon posted an few images of the England team along with coach Lee Carsley captioning it with “European Champions! Brothers.”

The post garnered a lot of attention from his fellow Newcastle United teammates but the standout response was from co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi who said “So proud of you”.

Gordon will show us all what we paid so much money for next season

Mehrdad Ghodoussi has become a massively popular figure amongst the fans for his interactions on social media so it’s no surprise to see him offering encouragement to Gordon, but he’s outdone himself with this comment. A touching message which shows just how much he loves the club and how invested he is in the players.

Anthony Gordon will now be given a few more days to relax before joining up with the Newcastle squad in training where he can show off his medal and his trophy, although hopefully he uses some tact when it comes to showing Tonali after Italy’s early exit from the tournament.

I’ve said it many times before that next season is when we’ll see where our £45million has gone with Gordon and his achievements with the England Under 21s this summer has just reinforced that belief.
