Newcastle United have been linked with a crazy amount of relegated players, and now the Magpies are finally close to signing one.
Tino Livramento emerged as Eddie Howe‘s next major target on Monday night, with a report stating that Newcastle were in advanced talks to sign the Southampton defender.
There have been rumours involving plenty of Livramento’s Southampton teammates heading to Tyneside, but it looks like it could be the 20-year-old who is on way to the North East. That could open the door for Harrison Ashby to go out on loan.
But while talks are at an advanced stage, a deal is still not in place between Newcastle and Southampton.
Newcastle confident of Tino Livramento deal
According to the Chronicle, the two clubs are currently £10million apart in their valuations of Livramento. However, the report adds that Newcastle are confident that a deal can be reached to bring the youngster to St James’ Park.

They state that personal terms are not expected to be a problem, which is not surprising. Any player in the right-back’s situation would jump at the chance to make an immediate return to the Premier League as well as compete in the Champions League.
Joining Howe’s side is suddenly very appealing, while Newcastle are targeting the right type of players. Signing Livramento would be another smart addition – assuming he can get back to the level he was playing at before his horrific ACL injury.
Livramento was a revelation in his first Southampton season
Southampton pulled off a masterstroke when they signed Livramento from Chelsea in 2021. He arrived with no Premier League experience, but went on to play 28 times in his first season at St Mary’s.

The youngster hit the ground running, and was praised by England manager Gareth Southgate for his ‘excellent‘ form in a Saints shirt.
He has the potential to be a future England international, and can achieve that goal if he makes the move to Newcastle and learns from Kieran Trippier. While Toon fans won’t want to think of a team without Tripps, Livramento has the ability to eventually replace him when the time comes.
This could be another excellent bit of business by Newcastle, so let’s hope a fee can be agreed with Southampton very soon.
