Newcastle United are reportedly planning to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal this summer, but Ally McCoist thinks the Gunners will be reluctant to let him go.
Tierney is a major target for Newcastle ahead of next season, and it has even been claimed that he is expected to join Eddie Howe’s side in the coming months.
He would be an excellent addition to a Newcastle team that needs a bit of extra quality on the left of defence. Dan Burn has done brilliantly this season, but his best position is at centre-back.
That is why Tierney is a target, and the fact he has slipped down the Arsenal pecking order means that he could be available.
He would be an excellent signing for the Magpies, but a selection of TalkSPORT believe it would be difficult for Arsenal to say goodbye.

TalkSPORT pundits discuss Tierney possibly joining Newcastle
On TalkSPORT on Tuesday, host and Arsenal fan Laura Woods, Gabby Agbonlahor and Ally McCoist discussed some players who Arsenal should sell during the summer transfer window – one of which was Tierney.
“I wouldn’t want to sell Tierney but there’s been talk that Newcastle are after him, so that’s where they’re looking then you’d let Tierney go to Newcastle,” Agbonlahor said.
Woods replied: “It’s really tricky because there’s a lot of names that you just listed there that Arsenal fans absolutely love like Smith-Rowe for example. Tierney, as well, would be a very difficult one.
McCoist added: “Oh it would be agony!”
Difficult deal for Arsenal
While Newcastle are very keen on Tierney and it has previously been claimed that he would be open to a move to the North East, the big stumbling block could be Arsenal’s willingness to do a deal.
He may not be a starter, but he is still an excellent player and their squad will be a lot weaker without him. On top of that, it also makes a rival stronger.
We have seen the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea refuse to do business with the Magpies in fear of strengthening Howe’s squad, so it would not be a surprise if Arsenal decided to do the same.
However, all roads currently lead towards Tierney leaving Arsenal and signing for Newcastle. It might not be a deal that goes down well with the Arsenal faithful, but it would be one that is celebrated on Tyneside.
