West Ham could give Callum Wilson the chance to remain in the Premier League after leaving Newcastle United.

The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer, with Callum Wilson deciding to leave Newcastle United. He had the opportunity to stay at St James’ Park, but opted to take his talents elsewhere.

His next club is yet to be determined, with various clubs offered the chance to sign a striker who knows where the back of the net is but has also struggled with injuries.

West Ham have been offered Wilson, and they appear to be the favourites to secure his signature.

West Ham fans are furious about possibly signing Callum Wilson

That is not good news for some of the West Ham faithful, many of which are disappointed that Callum Wilson could be on his way to the London Stadium.

In response to journalist Jack Rosser claiming that the Hammers are in talks to sign the former Newcastle United star, these West Ham supporters on X made their thoughts on the situation very clear.

This West Ham fan wrote: “There’s only one person at West Ham that admires Wilson, and it’s David Sullivan. This is all because of Will Salthouse connection too, which I’m sick to death of. Stop interfering and let Potter, Macaulay and the recruitment team that you’ve employed do their jobs properly.

“Honestly rather we kept Antonio for another year or give Marshall a try, waste of money,” added a second Hammers supporter.

Another West Ham fan added: “He’s on a free for a reason because he’s past it. I wish we’d just buy a decent striker with at least some sell on value.”

“Would genuinely rather Vardy on a free, at least he’d be fit,” commented this fan.

Why Callum Wilson decided to leave Newcastle United as West Ham eye free transfer

If he does decide to move to the London Stadium, it will be because he has been given assurances over his game-time. That will be pivotal for Wilson, who spoke about his decision to leave Newcastle United during a recent interview with the i Paper.

“I still feel I can offer so much,” he said.

“I had conversations with the manager and we established that I’m not at a point mentally where I’m ready to sit on the bench and play number two for the whole season.

“I don’t mind yo-yoing here and there but it’s got to be a fair fight.”

Wilson is a player who has a massive point to prove. His stock at Newcastle United seriously dropped, with the forward only scoring one goal during the 2024/25 season.

He needs to rebuild his reputation, but there will be fears that he could be fighting a losing battle if he moves to West Ham given the immediate reaction from some supporters.

But Wilson is a fighter and will back himself to win the West Ham faithful over if he does make the move to east London.
