Newcastle United fans are waiting to see where Callum Wilson goes next following his St James’ Park departure.

It was recently announced that Callum Wilson has left Newcastle United, with the 33-year-old now a free agent following the expiration of his contract.

Newcastle wanted to keep Wilson on an incentivised deal, but the striker has chosen to take his talents elsewhere.

His next destination is yet to be revealed. Manchester United have been offered Wilson as they search for a striker, while the England international could have other chances to remain in the Premier League.

West Ham get the chance to sign Callum Wilson after Newcastle United release

That is because his agent is working hard to find him a new club, with Manchester United not the only club that has been approached.

According to TalkSPORT, Wilson has been offered to West Ham United.

They report that Wilson’s agent, Will Salthouse, has a close relationship with West Ham owner David Sullivan, which could result in him joining Graham Potter’s side at the London Stadium.

There could be two chances for him to wear claret next season, as Burnley have been linked with Wilson too. They could do with signing an experienced striker like Wilson as they aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has stated on X that Wilson is an ‘active target for Burnley’, as they weigh up signing him on a free transfer.

What Eddie Howe said about Callum Wilson leaving Newcastle United

As it stands, Newcastle are yet to replace Wilson at St James’ Park. They have tried to sign Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike, but they have all moved elsewhere.

Replacing him is quite difficult, as strikers are not cheap, especially not ones that are as good as Wilson at his best.

As he weighs up his next move, Eddie Howe recently spoke about the departure of Wilson during an interview with NUFC TV.

“Unbelievable player, person, character,” he said.

“Can’t speak highly enough of him. I’ve said it many times over the years, but we miss his laugh. He had an infectious personality. You always knew when Callum was around because he was bubbly and joking.

“But he obviously knew the right time to be focussed on his work and he’s very serious about his profession and scoring goals.

“We wish him well. All of us connected with Newcastle hope he goes on and scores a lot more goals and enjoys the next stage of his career. Unfortunately it won’t be with us here but he’ll always be in our thoughts.”
