Liverpool have agreed a fee to sign Newcastle teenager Bobby Clark.
That’s according to the Chronicle, who claim the 16-year-old’s exit will be confirmed soon.
Clark is the son of former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark, who had two spells with the at St James’ Park and has managed sides including Birmingham and Blackpool
Bobby, like his father, is a midfielder and his talent is so precocious that he made his Magpies Under-18s debut when he was only 14.
Could be costly
It looks a matter of when and not if the teenager will depart Tyneside now.
It’s early days but Clark has a decent chance of making it with his ability. But now he’ll develop elsewhere.
More players need to make it from the academy to the first team and Clark could have done that.
Instead, it seems he’ll continue his progression at Anfield, where Jurgen Klopp tries to create a pathway to the first team.
If Clark does make the grade at Liverpool, this might be an exit which is looked back on ruefully.
The initial reports linking Clark with Liverpool didn’t go down well with fans on Twitter, during a disappointing summer already.
