Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon seems all-but certain to leave the club this summer – but Liverpool do not believe he’s bound for Anfield.
Gordon’s Newcastle future is in doubt amid links with the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Here’s my hot take heading into Forest – prove me wrong 👇
While Gordon remains committed to Newcastle United, there is little doubt that he looks like one of the major names to watch out for heading into the summer transfer window.
Though Gordon is famously a Liverpool fan, it seems those on Merseyside think they know what the player himself wants.
Liverpool think Gordon wants to move to a new country
According to noted transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Liverpool believe Gordon would like to move countries this summer.
Speaking on Born ‘N Red, Jacobs said: “You can never discount that kind of deal from reemerging, but at this stage there’s other targets ahead of Anthony Gordon and Liverpool’s expectation is that Gordon now is maybe more sold on going abroad.
What would you do with Anthony Gordon this summer and why?! 🤔
“And if Bayern can agree a fee with Newcastle, there is a very realistic chance that Gordon picks Bayern over everybody else, including staying in the Premier League.”
Previous reports have claimed that Gordon has been inspired by Michael Olise following his success at Bayern.
The France international went from an established Premier League player to a genuine world star following his move to the Bavarian giants from Crystal Palace.
While Gordon has struggled for consistency at Newcastle in the Premier League since his stunning first full season at the club, it would be foolish to bet against a player of his quality going on a similar journey.

Selling abroad would also surely be much more palatable for Newcastle themselves. They would not need to face an awkward encounter with a player they’ve put so much into over the last few years, which is what will happen with a certain Alexander Isak at some point.
That does not mean Newcastle should sell cheaply to Bayern, but they have previously shown a willingness to spend big on Premier League talents such as Olise, Sadio Mane, Harry Kane and Luiz Diaz over the years.
A move to Germany really could be the best outcome for all parties here.
