Newcastle United have been linked with signing Jonathan Tah this summer, and it is now ‘very likely’ that he leaves Bayer Leverkusen in the coming months.
It was recently reported by 90min that Newcastle have held talks over a move for Tah, with Liverpool also interested in his signature.
They stated that the 27-year-old centre-back was keen on a move to the Premier League, with the Magpies and the Reds holding talks with intermediaries about the possibility of signing him.
Tah looks set to be a man in demand, and now Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on his future.
Jonathan Tah ‘very likely’ to leave Bayer Leverkusen
According to Plettenberg, it is ‘very likely’ that Tah leaves Bayer Leverkusen this summer. He adds that the defender has a release clause in his contract, with teams in England and Italy keen on signing the Germany international.

Plettenberg also added that Tah has a new agent. He is now represented by Pini Zahavi, and wants to make the next step in his career.
Tah shares an agent with Toon midfielder Sean Longstaff
The agency change from Tah will be of interest to Newcastle, as it now means that he is represented by the same group as Sean Longstaff.
The Geordie midfielder joined up with Zahavi’s agency in 2020, and now Tah has done the same. That could potentially open the door for Newcastle to swoop in and make a move.
It is a tactic that the club have used before. Shortly after Kieran Trippier’s arrival, they brought in Chris Wood. They were represented by the same agency, and it was actually Trippier’s agent who alerted Newcastle to Wood’s £25million release clause.
Tah also has a release clause in his contract, but the figure is unknown at the moment.
But Newcastle look set to be in the market for a centre-back this summer – especially with talk of Jamaal Lascelles leaving St James’ Park. Tah could be an ideal replacement, and he could also threaten Fabian Schar’s place in the starting XI.
