Following the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes, Newcastle United will now turn their attention towards defensive reinforcements.
Eddie Howe is keen to add more depth at the back, with the Magpies looking to conclude a deal for Southampton right-back Tino Livramento.
It remains to be seen if that deal will influence Newcastle’s search for a left-back, which was seen as a priority position at the start of the summer.
Kieran Tierney was heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park, and it was even claimed that he was expected to make the move.
Talk of a Toon transfer has since gone quiet, but it was recently suggested that Newcastle could still make a move for the Arsenal defender.

Now he has spoke out about his future, and refused to confirm whether or not he will be staying at the Emirates.
Kieran Tierney admits he is ‘happy’ at Arsenal
Tierney has spoke to the Athletic about his Arsenal future, and has admitted that the decision will be made by the club rather than him.
“It’s not really up to me (my future),” he said.
“I’m happy, I’m working hard every day and getting minutes. I’m just trying to do as well as I can.
“No (I have not had conversations with Arteta).
“You can’t play every single game, every single season, every single year. I don’t expect that and I still made a lot of appearances last year. I was ready every game and working 100%. I think everyone in there would agree with that, that I never give less than that whether I’m playing or not.
“In the games I did play I tried to do my best for the team. I came off the bench a lot last season, whether that was to see games out or help get a goal.”

He would be a key player at Newcastle
While Tierney did play a lot of football last season, he was not a regular starter. He played second fiddle to Oleksandr Zinchenko, who arrived from Man City last summer.
That looks likely to continue during the upcoming campaign, although Tierney sounds happy with his current role under Mikel Arteta.
And with the Arsenal manager keen to keep the Scot, it looks increasingly unlikely that Newcastle will get their man.
That is a shame, as the £25million defender would be a key player at St James’ Park. He is an improvement on our current left-back options, and would be a consistent starter under Howe.
But with Tierney leaving his future in the hands of his current employers, it does not look like he will be playing in black and white any time soon.
