Newcastle United have been handed a major boost over key defender Tino Livramento amid Manchester City’s attempts to sign him.
Livramento has become a key player at Newcastle United since he arrived from Southampton in 2023, proving as capable at left-back as he is in his more natural position of right-back.
Newcastle paid £32million to sign Livramento and that now looks a bargain. The 22-year-old was brilliant in the Carabao Cup final win against Liverpool, though that is only one of his standout performances.
Man City want to sign Livramento, but Geordie Boot Boys understands Newcastle desperately do not want to sell.
Now, The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has provided a promising update.
- Who is Tino Livramento? All you need to know about Newcastle United’s flying full-back

Tino Livramento doesn’t want to leave Newcastle United
Hope took to social media platform X after the defender was praised for his international performances.
Livramento was brilliant for the England U21s when they beat Czechia and will hope to take that form into Sunday evening’s clash with Slovenia.
According to Hope, Livramento has shown little desire to leave Newcastle even despite all the links with a huge move to the Etihad Stadium.
Eddie Howe has told owners PIF he doesn’t want to sell the defender, while City do not want to be drawn into a summer-long transfer saga. Indeed, with Howe desperate to keep him, it seems Pep Guardiola’s side have got the message.
Tino Livramento makes statement on Newcastle United future after Man City interest
Livramento loves playing for Newcastle, even though City are after him.
The England international has suggested he wants to stay at the club, saying “long may it continue” when asked about enjoying success at St James’ Park.
“I knew that they [Newcastle] were a big club when I joined. They were already in the Champions League the summer when I arrived,” he said.
“So even that was a massive thing for me. To win anything for this club has been a massive achievement, and long may it continue.
That is brilliant news for Newcastle. Replacing Livramento would be difficult and watching him develop elsewhere would be painful.
He’s established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League and still has so much more to give.
Newcastle struck gold when signing Livramento. They are a better side with him in the team, so it’s fantastic to hear he doesn’t want to leave.
