Yoane Wissa is the man Newcastle United are turning to in a bid to solve their attacking problems this summer.
Though Newcastle remain keen to keep Alexander Isak at the club in the wake of speculation over his future, the options behind the Sweden star do not convince.
Even if Isak stays this summer, Eddie Howe’s squad is already weaker than it was last season. Callum Wilson left Newcastle on a free transfer earlier this summer, meaning only William Osula is available as a potential alternative for Isak.
As such, Wissa is a target. Indeed, Newcastle are set to make a fresh offer for Wissa, having seen their opening bid rejected by Brentford.
Now, Craig Hope of The Daily Mail has offered some added insight.
- Who is Yoane Wissa? Newcastle United’s £55m Alexander Isak replacement

Newcastle United want quick-fire action on Yoane Wissa bid
On social media platform X, the journalist provided an update that will no doubt serve as music to the ears of Newcastle fans.
Hope revealed that his sources are suggesting that Newcastle are working towards a deal as quickly as possible.
Rather than making a series of bids that incrementally rise towards Brentford’s valuation, they want to make decisive progress.
Hope adds that there is a confidence a deal will get done.
What Yoane Wissa wants as Newcastle United look to sign him
Wissa has told Brentford he’s open to joining Newcastle this summer, such is his desire to play in the Champions League next season.
While Tottenham and Nottingham Forest have both been credited with an interest too, Newcastle clearly hope to win the race.
The fact that Wissa is open to joining will no doubt come as welcome relief on Tyneside. Newcastle have seemingly been rejected by several of their targets this summer, so actually having a player keen to sign comes as a nice change of pace.
Hopefully, a deal can be done soon.
