Southampton are willing to let Aaron Ramsdale join Newcastle United on loan this summer, Geordie Boot Boys understand.
With James Trafford heading to Manchester City, the Magpies have been forced to alter their plans to sign a new goalkeeper.
Eddie Howe wants more competition for Nick Pope, with Newcastle trying to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton one year after his move to St Mary’s from Arsenal.

Southampton want their money back as Newcastle United target Aaron Ramsdale
The 27-year-old could be handed an immediate return to the Premier League, but a permanent deal to Newcastle United will only materialise if they agree to pay £25million in total.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Southampton want to receive the fee they paid Arsenal for Ramsdale last summer.
He cost an initial £18million, with the transfer rising to £25million with add-ons.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that a loan deal is something that Southampton will consider, as Newcastle United reignite their interest in Ramsdale after targeting him in 2024.
A total fee of £25million would make Ramsdale cheaper than Trafford, who is costing Man City around £27million. However, the caveat is that Trafford is five years younger and has an extremely high ceiling.
Aaron Ramsdale very keen on joining Newcastle United after Sunderland interest
While Trafford has opted to go to Man City, Ramsdale is keen on a move to Tyneside.
That is according to Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about the Magpies’ fresh push to sign the former Arsenal goalkeeper.
“Eddie Howe is a confirmed fan of Aaron Ramsdale,” he said.
“He wants to bolster his goalkeeping department and, having missed out on James Trafford, he is looking at other options.
“I am told Ramsdale is very keen to work with Howe having signed for him at Bournemouth.”
Newcastle United are not the only club in the mix for Ramsdale’s signature. Geordie Boot Boys understand that Aston Villa are watching the situation closely, but are yet to initiate talks.
Elsewhere, Ramsdale has also attracted interest from West Ham United, Leeds United and the Magpies’ rivals Sunderland. He even held talks about moving to the Stadium of Light, but was not convinced.
While Wearside did not appeal, Tyneside does.
