The upcoming summer transfer window needs to go well for Newcastle United.
While this season still has to run its course, Newcastle could perhaps do with it coming to an end. Currently not consistent enough to make a late run for European qualification a distinct possibility and out of the FA Cup, Eddie Howe and his side need to regroup.
While FFP issues remain at St James’ Park, a big summer has been predicted. Whether or not it will be a lavish rebuild remains to be seen of course but some rejuvenation will be required.
Indeed, it seems that one area is of big interest.
Newcastle transfer news: What is currently towards the top of the summer shopping list
According to iNews, the signing of a young and versatile forward is near the top of Newcastle’s shopping list ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report suggests three key additions are what the club are hoping for this summer but the addition of a player at the top of the pitch is one of the priorities.

Newcastle transfer news: Forward line needs investment
Looking at the frontline makes a lot of sense for Newcastle.
While Anthony Gordon has been one of the standouts this season, he needs support.
Callum Wilson is reportedly expected to leave the club this summer, while Miguel Almiron is another to have been tipped for an exit. With neither proving quite as good last season anyway, things have looked rather stale up front of late.
Alexander Isak, as good as he can be, cannot be relied upon to regularly stay fit at this stage of his career. Harvey Barnes is yet to truly get going due to injury issues of his own.
Though other areas – such as potentially replacing Bruno Guimaraes – will need addressing, the front line does need some work.
