It is no secret that Liverpool would love to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

Liverpool became Premier League champions on Sunday, and plans are already in place to build on this success.

Arne Slot will not want his side to stand still, as he plots the arrival of reinforcements. They would like that to include Alexander Isak, with the Reds in the market for a new striker.

Liverpool had been confident about signing Isak, but that confidence might be waning as the summer transfer window edges closer.

Liverpool’s stance on signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United

Liverpool are looking to sign a striker this summer, with the Telegraph reporting that Darwin Nunez is on course to be sold if an acceptable offer arrives.

However, Slot might not be able to replace the erratic Uruguayan with Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever.

The Telegraph report that Liverpool are being realistic about their chances of signing Isak from the Magpies.

While the Telegraph state that Liverpool see the 25-year-old as ‘one of the best strikers in Europe’, they describe the chances of a possible move to Anfield as ‘slim’.

Alexander Isak made history against Ipswich Town

As Newcastle United continue to keep their fingers crossed about retaining Isak, the man himself is making history.

He scored in Newcastle’s win over Ipswich on Saturday, netting a penalty to give Eddie Howe’s side the lead.

It was a pivotal goal, as it set the Magpies on their way to a crucial victory in the race for Champions League qualification.

It was also a pivotal goal for Isak, as he took his tally for the season to 26. He has now eclipsed last season’s number of goals, which means that 2024/25 is the best campaign of his career.

He has got 26 goals in 39 games this season, with four match matches to play. In contrast, he scored 25 times in 40 appearances last year.
