How Johan Bakayoko feels about signing for Newcastle United in 2025

Newcastle United are interested in signing Johan Bakayoko in 2025.

The Magpies are in the market for a right winger, while Paul Mitchell wants to sign younger players from overseas.

While Newcastle United have been linked with Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, they will simply be too expensive. That is also why talk of Newcastle wanting Mohammed Kudus is strange.

Money is tight on Tyneside, which is why Mitchell wants to recruit from further afield. Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Mitchell really likes Johan Bakayoko, and that feeling is shared by the Newcastle United manager.

Eddie Howe is also a fan of Bakayoko, with the PSV Eindhoven attacker ticking a lot of boxes.

But while Newcastle United want Bakayoko, does Bakayoko want Newcastle United?

Well, according to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the 21-year-old could be keen on a move to St James’ Park.

Tavolieri reports that Bakayoko is interested in the Newcastle United project, as he prepares to take the next step in his career.

The Belgium international is on course to leave PSV in 2025, and Toon officials will hope that a deal can be done to bring him to Tyneside as early as next month.

However, that will be difficult due to PSR. Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle must sell before they buy to raise funds.

New claim on Johan Bakayoko asking price

But while Newcastle must be wary of PSR ahead of any possible January incomings, a new claim has been made about Bakayoko’s asking price.

It had been suggested that Bakayoko would cost around £50million, but Sacha Tavolieri suggests that the winger could be available for much less.

He reports that PSV want around £25million for Bakayoko, which seems staggeringly low for a player of his quality – especially during the January transfer market when fees are inflated.

It would be a huge surprise if Newcastle were able to sign Bakayoko for that amount. It would represent a real bargain, at a time when the Magpies are desperate to get more value from their signings.

In truth, it feels likely that Bakayoko will cost a lot more than £25million, but he is certainly a player of interest for Newcastle United.
