Newcastle United youngster Lewis Cass has today joined Port Vale on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old will be playing his football at Vale Park in 2021/22 following a great spell with Hartlepool United last season.
He is Vale’s 11th signing of the summer so far, with the club looking to build on their 13th-placed finish in 2020/21.
Manager Darrell Clarke said of Cass (via BBC Sport): “He is a young defender capable of playing in a couple of positions along the defensive line.
“He had a great season on loan at Hartlepool where he has played regular football, playing a key part in the Pools’ promotion campaign.”
Cass has yet to turn out for the Newcastle first-team, and will hope this move will help prepare him for a potential Magpies debut in the future.
News of Cass’ move to Port Vale has been going round on social media, and not everybody is happy.
The star’s performances for Hartlepool last season saw him become a favourite at Victoria Park.
He made 35 appearances for them, playing a major part in their promotion back to the Football League.
He couldn’t feature against Torquay United in the play-off final due to injury, but his contributions throughout the season were plentiful.
