Newcastle United are interested in signing Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini this summer after a new update reacting to his interest in the move.
Now that Anthony Elanga has signed, Eddie Howe has shifted his focus onto other areas of his starting XI.
In June, reports surfaced stating Giorgio Scalvini to Newcastle was ‘one to watch’. The Magpies have a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old and are hoping to take advantage of his lack of minutes in Serie A last season to get him for a smaller price tag.
However, Atalanta see Scalvini as ‘unsellable‘, and will need a significant offer to consider letting him go. On Friday, reports surfaced that Scalvini is ‘flattered’ by Newcastle’s interest, with Sandro Tonali believed to have given the young defender glowing reviews of the club.
Alan Shearer expects Newcastle to make more signings, and fans have said exactly the same after a promising new update.

Newcastle United fans tell Eddie Howe to get Giorgio Scalvini deal done
New reports have stated that Scalvini will not be sold for anything less than £50million this summer, so a deal would make him Newcastle’s most expensive defender. It is a huge price to pay for someone who only made eight league appearances last season, but it shows how much potential Atalanta and Newcastle see in him.
Ivan Juric is ready to build a team around Scalvini, but he could be forced to change those plans if a deal goes through.
Upon hearing the news, Newcastle fans made it clear that Scalvini is a player who the club should be signing, especially if he is open to the move.
“He’s worth the risk. Tino had a similar injury and he’s been fine. I don’t go with all this ‘premier league experience’ c— either. Bruno, Botman and Isak and Tonali both scored on their Prem debut.” said on fan on the social media platform X, while another added: “Bring the young Italian defender to Newcastle.”
“Obviously Newcastle are a European super club.” said this fan regarding Scalvini’s openness to the move.
This excited Newcastle fan said: “Oh boy if we get this guy I would be very excited and if he wants to come then that’s even better.”
Another fan added: “Get it done.”
Finally, this fan said: “All well and good but we need to bid.”

Giorgio Scalvini is Eddie Howe’s top target at Newcastle United
At such a young age, Scalvini has already done so much to impress. He made his debut with Atalanta aged 17, and was part of the Italian national team not long after.
Scalvini is Newcastle’s top target, so Howe will be eager to do whatever it takes to bring him to Tyneside. Tonali’s presence at the club is undoubtedly an added boost, with the midfielder already getting in his ear about a move.

Geordie Boot Boys understands Newcastle are still big fans of Malick Thiaw, and will likely make an approach for him if the Scalvini deal falls through. In the meantime, Howe has his sights set on the young Italian defender in Bergamo.
Newcastle are aware of his injury problems in the past, but are confident he is past the worst of them in his career, and he can be a major part of future success on Tyneside. With a bid not yet placed, fans are eager to see some movement for the player in the coming days.
