Gayle reportedly set to be made available for loan in January

Newcastle will allow Dwight Gayle to leave the club on loan when the January transfer window opens, as per the Telegraph.

Championship outfits West Brom and Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested.

The report claims Newcastle will look for an obligation to buy dependent on promotion from the Championship.

Gayle is apparently looking for regular football at this stage of his career.

Gayle has not started a Premier League game so far this season, having signed a new contract in the summer.

His reported willingness to move on loan cannot come as a surprise given his lack of action under Steve Bruce and now Eddie Howe.

He was previously with West Brom in the 2018/19 season on loan scoring 24 goals as the Baggies made it to the Championship play-offs before losing to Aston Villa in the semi-finals.

Gayle was brought to the club by Rafa Benitez in July 2016 and the Spaniard said at the time: “Dwight is a great player, a proven goalscorer, and it is fantastic news that he has joined us.

“He has a big personality, a lot of energy and pace. He is a good finisher also, so he will add goals to our squad, for sure.

But he has not had enough opportunities in the Premier League to show what he can do and could well be heading back to the second tier.
