As the January window begins to come into view, transfer rumours including Newcastle will ramp up more and more.
A fresh report from has claimed that Gabriel Barbosa of Brazilian side Flamengo is a potential target.
Where has this claim come from?
The report is by 90Min, who claim that a host of clubs across Europe are keen on the striker and Newcastle are one of them.
Newcastle still do not have a director of football, which would help give their January window more direction.

Would he be a good fit?
The report claims that any suitor would need to come up with £30 million to sign Barbosa.
He is a striker and Newcastle are actually not that short at that end of the pitch.
Some cover or maybe a partner for Callum Wilson would not go amiss, but other areas of the team are in more urgent need of surgery.

How good is Barbosa?
Barbosa is a Brazilian international and at 25, he is experienced but with his best years ahead of him.
He has 28 goals in all competitions this season but there is a question mark over his suitability for European football after a disappointing spell with Inter.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has said that Barbosa has the talent to become a ‘great player’ and doing the business in Europe could put him into that category.
