Newcastle United look as if they don’t want to be messed with this summer.
For what feels like an age now, Newcastle United fans have had to deal with seeing their very best players linked with moves away.
That is despite the fact that Newcastle sources are confident they are in a healthy PSR situation this summer.
Last season, Eddie Howe was forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh as the club looked to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The mood feels different heading into this summer’s transfer window, however. Newcastle could have a summer budget of £150million, although clearly much will depend on whether they reach the Champions League or not.
Still, Newcastle are not under any pressure to sell their best players, so a recent update in regard to Tino Livramento from Fabrizio Romano is all the more promising.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Tino Livramento transfer latest
Manchester City have been linked with signing Livramento, who has established himself as one of Newcastle’s best players.
Newcastle paid £32million to sign Livramento from Southampton in 2023 and he’s since gone on to make 79 appearances for the club, winning the Carabao Cup in the process.
Able to operate both as a right-back and a left-back, the 22-year-old is a brilliant talent with much of his future ahead of him.
| Metric | Average per game |
| Tackles/90 | 1.5 |
| Interceptions/90 | 0.6 |
| Blocks/90 | 0.3 |
| Clearances/90 | 2.5 |
| Key passes/90 | 0.7 |
| Dribbles/90 | 0.6 |
With that in mind, City’s interest makes sense, particularly because – as per Romano on social media platform X – Kyle Walker is facing an uncertain future under Pep Guardiola.
While the noted transfer insider has confirmed City remain keen on signing Livramento, he adds that Newcastle will make life very difficult for them if they engage in transfer talks.
Why Tino Livramento has now been snubbed from the England squad
Interestingly, Walker was recently picked over the Newcastle defender in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad despite struggling this season.
Livramento isn’t in England’s latest squad, which seems a real surprise given the level of performance he’s put in this season.
Tuchel has confirmed Livramento will play for the England U21s in the upcoming European Championship later this summer, having dropped out of the senior side for now.
That feels very harsh indeed. Walker has been a brilliant player for the Three Lions over the years, but Livramento looks the much better option these days.
