One year after leaving Newcastle United, Allan Saint-Maximin is on the move again.
It is almost exactly 12 months since Allan Saint-Maximin was sold by Newcastle United, with the Magpies cashing in on the Frenchman to allow them to reinvest elsewhere.
His exit was seen as necessary, and it made way for Newcastle United to bring in Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento.
The winger took his talents to Saudi Arabia, signing for Al-Ahli for £23million. Saint-Maximin issued an emotional goodbye, having created an incredible bond with the club and its fans during his time on Tyneside.
It was sad to see Saint-Maximin go, but it was a deal that had to be done. That was the view of the manager, with Eddie Howe recently admitting that he did not want to sell ASM. However, he had to for financial reasons.

Allan Saint-Maximin leaving Al-Ahli on loan
Saint-Maximin followed a wealth of talent to Saudi Arabia, but is now on the move again.
It was reported earlier this week that Saint-Maximin was close to signing for Fenerbahce, and now there has been a further development.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has taken to X to provide the latest on Saint-Maximin’s move from Al-Ahli to Fenerbahce.
He wrote on X: “Fenerbahçe agree deal to sign Allan Saint-Maximin on loan from Al Ahli, here we go! Deal in place for one season loan with salary to be reduced, verbal agreement in place waiting to check contracts. José Mourinho wanted ASM and he was able to convince the player.”
Allan Saint-Maximin’s latest Instagram post
A deal is in place for Saint-Maximin to leave Al-Ahli and sign for Fenerbahce on loan. He is on his way to Turkey, where he will play under Jose Mourinho. The ‘special one’ was recently named Fenerbahce manager after leaving Roma.
It represents a great opportunity for Saint-Maximin, who will also get the chance to play alongside former Premier League stars such as Edin Dzeko, Dusan Tadic, Fred and Caglar Soyuncu.
However, it is a shock to see him leave Saudi Arabia after just one year, even if it is only on loan.
In fact, his most recent Instagram post hinted that he would be staying in Jeddah despite rumours of a move to Turkey.
Alongside a picture of him in pre-season training, he wrote: “I love this game so much so happy to be back let’s write the history together.”
Newcastle searching for a winger themselves
While one former Toon attacker changes club, Eddie Howe continues his own search for a winger.
The Magpies are aiming to sign a right-sided forward this summer, and Jarrod Bowen is currently Newcastle’s top target.
However, he is likely to be too expensive, which could force the club to look elsewhere.
