Newcastle United fans should discover in the next seven days whether or not Tino Livramento is on his way to Tyneside.
Livramento emerged as a target for the Magpies last week, with Newcastle confident they could agree a deal with Southampton for the 20-year-old.
The transfer fee was and still is the issue, with Southampton looking to get as much money as possible due to a lofty sell-on clause that Chelsea would benefit from if Livramento departs.
In contrast, Newcastle are looking for a bargain from a relegated club as they look to stretch their transfer budget as far as possible.
Thus, an impasse has emerged.

Livramento to Newcastle move could now collapse
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle are threatening to walk away from talks with Southampton over a deal to sign Livramento.
They report that a stalemate has emerged, with the Magpies unwilling to pay over £30million – which is what the Saints want.
The Telegraph add that Toon officials will walk away from the deal if no progress is made this week.
It is therefore a vital few days in the race to sign Livramento, who the Telegraph believe is very keen on a move to St James’ Park.
It is easy to understand why, as it would give the ‘excellent‘ youngster an immediate route back to the Premier League, and the chance to play in the Champions League.

But Southampton appear to be standing firm, as they look to extract as much money as possible from a young man who has a huge amount of potential.
With the deal at stalemate, it currently feels very unlikely that Livramento will be on his way to Newcastle. That is a great shame, as he would be a very smart addition with an eye to the future.
But with the Magpies needing to pay over the odds, it appears that Eddie Howe might have to take his defensive search elsewhere.
