Dominic Calvert-Lewin has already sent a message about where his future lies amid links with Newcastle United.
Calvert-Lewin has confirmed he’s leaving Everton on a free transfer this summer, and Newcastle United have looked at signing him.
Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle are interested in Calvert-Lewin, who has long been linked with a move to St James’ Park.
As a back-up striker, the 11-cap England international looks a logical addition. Granted, he perhaps wouldn’t be a name to seriously excite Toon fans after so long without a major addition, but he would bolster the Newcastle United squad.
Calvert-Lewin surely looks a better option than this version of Callum Wilson, who may be leaving the club anyway.
It remains to be seen where Calvert-Lewin goes next, but he did suggest a move to a club like Newcastle would appeal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin wants Champions League football at next club
Speaking on an episode of the High Performance Podcast earlier this month, the 28-year-old revealed he was targeting Champions League football at his next club.
Newcastle, of course, sealed a second qualification for Europe’s elite club competition in three seasons on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
Despite losing to Everton in the finale, Eddie Howe’s side booked their place in the competition by way of goal difference after Manchester United surprisingly beat Aston Villa.
“I want to be in a winning environment,” he said.
“The last three or four seasons it has been about survival.
“When I started my career, I wanted to play in the Premier League. Play for England, go to major tournaments with England.
“Play in the Champions League. I have played in a major tournament for England, I have played in the Premier League…but I haven’t played in the Champions League.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s record against Newcastle United
The former Sheffield United youngster has been a thorn in Newcastle’s side throughout his career.
In fact, Calvert-Lewin has scored more goals against the Magpies than any other team.
| Games | Goals | Assists |
| 16 | 6 | 1 |
During his 16 games against Newcastle, he’s scored six goals and registered one assist.
He’s been part of a team who have beaten Newcastle six times, drawing four and losing the other six.
If Wilson is to depart, Calvert-Lewin looks like an upgrade. With William Osula also in the mix for a starting berth up front, moving for a player like the Everton forward on a free transfer seems a wise way to strengthen the options behind Alexander Isak.
Calvert-Lewin won’t answer every problem at Newcastle, but he would at least help ease the burden on Isak somewhat.
