Newcastle United have registered an interest in Coventry City ace Jack Rudoni, and they have now been told whether they can sign him.

Eddie Howe is eager to add more bodies to the squad this summer, with a mix of young and experienced players being targeted.

Newcastle United are looking to sign five big names in the summer transfer window, including Bryan Mbeumo and Marc Guehi.

With a transfer budget believed to be over £150m, Newcastle should be able to welcome a number of players to the team so they have the best chance of success next season.

A recent report has linked Coventry City’s Jack Rudoni to Newcastle, with the midfielder impressing in his first season with the Sky Blues. 10 goals and 13 assists in all competitions shows he has what it takes to be a success, and Howe clearly sees potential in the 23-year-old.

With Newcastle looking to get their transfer business done early this summer, a journalist has shared whether the Magpies have a chance of landing Rudoni this summer.

Rudoni’s fine form helped Coventry qualify for the play-offs under Frank Lampard this season, but they were knocked out by eventual winners Sunderland with the last kick of the game.

However, the Englishman still gave a great account of himself, scoring in the first leg.

With Newcastle circling, BBC journalist Mantej Mann has stated that Rudoni does have ambitions to play in the Premier League. However, he is believed to be happy at the Coventry Building Society and is pleased to be working under Frank Lampard.

While Rudoni is currently happy at Coventry, Newcastle could still make an offer for him this summer to see if they can tempt him with a move to the North East.

Referred to as an ‘absolute dream‘ by the Mirror, Rudoni is a step below the players who have been linked with moves to Newcastle ahead of the transfer window opening, but it is an example of the players Howe is looking for.

Frank Lampard likens Jack Rudoni to Mason Mount

Rudoni has undoubtedly shown his quality in the Championship this season and would like to carry on his great run of form into the 2025/26 campaign. As it stands, he will be doing that with Lampard in the Championship with Coventry.

With Newcastle’s midfield oozing with quality, it’s difficult to see where Rudoni would fit in the starting XI.

Still, Howe will find a way to make it work and get the best out of him if he does join. Rudoni will also have the personal backing of Lampard if he makes the move, with the Chelsea legend comparing him to Mason Mount, whom he coached during spells at Derby and his former club Chelsea.

Speaking on the EFL Unfiltered podcast, Lampard was quick to heap praise on Rudoni for his efforts this season.

“I have this real professional drive and if I see something and I want to do it, I’ll do it. If I can’t do it, I want to do it. If I do it well, I want to do it better,” Lampard said.

“I’ve always had that and I have taken it into management. It becomes a bit more taxing as you get older as well. It’s a bit more tiring. When you’ve got loads of energy in your 20s, it’s like I’m going to the moon! Then when you’re in your 40s, you have days where you go, ‘I need a day off’.

“I love seeing it in players, there’s some players that naturally have it. I always felt that with Mason Mount, working with him as a young player, I could see the look in his eye.

“I feel it a bit with Jack Rudoni here. He’s got something about him that says, ‘I want to train, gaffer, how can I get better? What can I do?’ That was me. And I love that, it’s very infectious to me.

“But I also understand as a coach that not everyone is the same. It doesn’t mean that Jack should be my ‘pet’. Everybody needs a version of something to get them to where they can maximise themselves. (My) job is to support that.”
