Bruno Guimaraes won’t be happy as fresh Newcastle United transfer insight revealed, it’s getting frustrating

The summer transfer window has been a mess for Newcastle United thus far. 

While Newcastle United are free of at least some of the PSR problems that restricted their spending last summer, they are struggling to sign players. 

Though the signing of Anthony Elanga is a major positive for the club, they’ve been met with frustration when it comes to pretty much every other player they’ve looked to sign.

Moves for Dean Huijsen, Liam Delap, Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike have all failed to come off. Now, Manchester City could sign James Trafford despite the fact Newcastle have chased him for over a year. 

Eddie Howe isn’t confident about making new signings at Newcastle and, now, Luke Edwards has offered some worrying insight.

Newcastle United ‘don’t know’ their transfer targets

After publishing an article on The Daily Telegraph explaining Newcastle’s struggles this summer, Edwards was asked a question by a supporter on social media platform X.

The fan asked if Newcastle really would make signings in defence, attack and in goal.

Edwards did suggest that the club would likely fill at least some of those positions but added he couldn’t reveal any names just yet, as he doesn’t think the club themselves know who they will be signing. 

That is not a good thing to hear this close to the start of the season. Newcastle don’t have long to strengthen, and they look like they’re scrambling.  

Newcastle United have failed Bruno Guimaraes after he called for action

Upon the culmination of last season, team captain Bruno Guimaraes called for Newcastle to make more signings. 

He suggested the team needed help, particularly with more games to come next season after Howe’s side qualified for the Champions League. 

“We have improved a lot, but I think we’re not at the level that I want,” he said.

“I think for next season, we are going to need more players to be honest with you, because I think the squad is a little bit short.”

So far, however, Newcastle have failed Guimaraes. 

Elanga is a positive addition but the fact that both Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff have left means the Newcastle United squad is already weaker than last season. 

The longer this impasse goes on, the weaker Newcastle are ahead of next season.
