The transfer window is closed for Newcastle United, but the outgoings continue.
For Newcastle United fans, the summer was meant to be all about incomings. That proved not to be the case, with Paul Mitchell struggling to do any major business.
Alan Shearer has criticised Newcastle’s summer transfer activity, while club officials are expected to address Newcastle’s disappointing window.
But while there are going to be no more signings, there is still some outgoing business happening at St James’ Park.
Miodrag Pivas has signed for Willem II on loan, with the Serbian teenager set to spend the 2024/25 season in the Eredivisie.
Jamal Lewis leaves Newcastle United on loan
As for Jamal Lewis, he has completed one of the most surprising transfers of the summer.

The left-back has left Newcastle United on loan, signing for Brazilian giants Sao Paulo. The Northern Ireland international will be with Sao Paulo until June 2025, and they have the option to make the deal permanent.
Lewis is taking his talents to South America, becoming the first British player to represent Sao Paulo in their history.
It is a shocking move for the 26-year-old – a transfer that no one saw coming. Earlier this summer, Eddie Howe said Jamal Lewis could leave Newcastle, but no one anticipated he would end up in Brazil!
Newcastle plays react as Jamal Lewis heads to Sao Paulo
It is an incredible opportunity for Lewis. He is taking himself completely out of his comfort zone, and deserves credit for taking this chance.
Every Toon fan will wish the £15million defender luck, and the same goes for the Newcastle United players that he has said goodbye to.
Following confirmation of the deal, Lewis has taken to his official Instagram account to send a message.
Alongside a picture of him in a Sao Paulo shirt, Lewis wrote: “Cant wait to get started let’s go!”
He received a plethora of replies from his Newcastle United teammates, including one from captain Bruno Guimaraes.
Bruno wrote: “Good luck mate.”
There were also best wishes from Sven Botman, Joe Willock, Joelinton, Jacob Murphy and John Ruddy.
Botman commented: “Good luck brother.”
There was also a message from Ryan Fraser, who signed for Newcastle during the same transfer window as Lewis.
They both joined the Magpies in the summer of 2020, back when Steve Bruce was manager.
It is fair to say neither player truly delivered their best in a black and white shirt, and they have both been moved out this summer.
Ryan Fraser left Newcastle permanently on deadline day, signing for Southampton after a successful loan spell there last season.
