Newcastle United transfer target Nicolas Jackson may now be in talks with another big club as he looks to leave Chelsea this summer.

Newcastle have considered a move for Jackson, who scored ten Premier League goals last season.

Still, Chelsea have confirmed they want Jackson to leave after the Blues beat Newcastle to the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

As such, Enzo Maresca’s squad is stacked and the Senegal international could be afforded an exit.

Eddie Howe is on the hunt to replace Callum Wilson in the Newcastle United squad even before the club start considering whether or not to try and replace Alexander Isak.

Isak wants to leave Newcastle but the club are unlikely to let him go without signing a replacement. Signing one forward has been difficult enough for the club this summer, let alone two during the limited time remaining.

Jackson is an interesting option but it seems he could be headed elsewhere.

Aston Villa have also been linked with Jackson, with manager Unai Emery having worked with the Senegal international at Villarreal.

Both Newcastle and Villa, however, could be set for disappointment.

According to The Sun, another “big club” have entered the race to sign the 24-year-old and talks between the parties involved are ongoing.

It adds that Newcastle have been asked to be kept updated about the striker’s movements, while also stating that Villa are set to miss out altogether.

How Nicolas Jackson feels about Newcastle United

Chelsea want huge money for Jackson, so it was never an absolute guarantee that Newcastle moved for him.

While surely few would doubt that he’s obviously a talented player, Newcastle have doubts about Jackson

He hasn’t fully convinced at Chelsea, although the Blues themselves were struggling for consistency as a unit until reasonably recently.

For his part, Jackson was open to joining Newcastle this summer.
