Newcastle United are on course to make two major signings for the future this week.

The first looks set to be Lewis Hall, who is going to arrive from Chelsea. Newcastle are going to loan him for a year before signing him permanently in 2024 for £28million.

The Magpies are investing a lot of money in Hall, who has already been on Tyneside for his medical. He was also at the Etihad to watch Eddie Howe’s side lose 1-0 to Manchester City.

Despite his tender age, Hall will immediately link up with the first time and provide competition for Dan Burn and Matt Targett at left-back. It will be very interesting to see how much football Hall plays in the early months of his Toon career.

But his arrival is more focussed on the future, which brings us to the next 18-year-old who could be signing for Newcastle.

Newcastle set to sign Kevin Zefi

Newcastle have recently been linked with signing Inter Milan youngster Kevin Zefi. Now it looks like a deal is close to completion.

According to Calciomercato, Zefi is now ready to sign for Newcastle and is no longer training with the Inter Milan youth side.

Zefi is an 18-year-old winger who joined the Serie A giants in 2021 from Shamrock Rovers.

Now he is on his way to St James’ Park, where he will join a raft of young Irish talent that has joined the club. We recently completed a deal for Cathal Heffernan, while Alex Murphy arrived last summer. He has already hinted that he can make the step up to senior level, having impressed Howe during pre-season.

When Zefi arrives, he will see a clear path from youth team to senior side. That is something that Dan Ashworth has done a brilliant job of creating during his relatively short time as Newcastle’s Sporting Director.

The Irish teen is a very exciting talent, and is someone who the club will have very high hopes for. In the coming years, expect him to be rising through the ranks with the likes of Yankuba Minteh and Garang Kuol.

With another promising teenager on the way, the future is very bright for Newcastle United.
