Alexander Isak latest as emphatic Newcastle United response emerges after Liverpool and Saudi Arabia links

Despite Newcastle United’s insistence that he will not be sold this summer, Alexander Isak’s future remains the subject of huge scrutiny.

Isak was sent home from Newcastle’s pre-season game against Celtic, for two reasons.

Newcastle are managing Isak’s minutes, which feels like a good decision given he was struggling with injury towards the back end of last season.

Still, Eddie Howe has confirmed the speculation about the striker’s future informed his decision to send him home from Parkhead, at least in part.

Liverpool want to sign Isak, though there has never been an indication he’s actively looking to force a move away from St James’ Park

Isak has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, though Luke Edwards has provided a promising update.

Luke Edwards confirms Alexander Isak isn’t for sale

With Isak not even at Parkhead to watch Newcastle’s 4-0 loss to Celtic as pre-season began in dire fashion for Howe, speculation only began to swirl even further.

However, on Sunday, The Daily Telegraph journalist took to social media platform X.

He once again claimed that Isak simply wasn’t for sale this summer. Edwards adds that no amount of speculation will force Newcastle into changing their stance.

Liverpool get green light for transfer but Newcastle United will be delighted

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now set to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Newcastle wanted to sign Ekitike but couldn’t get a deal over the line with the German club despite reportedly agreeing personal terms.

Though that’s disappointing for Newcastle, it could have major implications on Isak’s short-term future at St James’ Park

Liverpool aren’t expected to sign both Isak and Ekitike this summer, so their move for the Frankfurt forward at least suggests the door is closed on the Newcastle star moving to Anfield imminently.

Keeping Isak is the most important thing Newcastle can do this summer.
