Jadon Sancho is the latest name to be linked with what would be a surprise move to Newcastle United this summer.
Sancho has just spent a season on loan at Chelsea but won’t be staying there after a permanent move to the Blues broke down.
The forward is now set to return to Manchester United and it seems unlikely he’ll have a future under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Already this summer, the Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha.
Sancho has been linked with Newcastle, but actually moving for him would be a surprise.
While Newcastle want to sign a new forward, signing a highly-paid player who is already established does not feel in keeping with the recruitment work they’ve largely done under PIF.
Still, at his best, Sancho is an exciting player. Indeed, Alexander Isak has already delivered his verdict.

The striker briefly played alongside Sancho for Borussia Dortmund.
Both players joined the German giants in 2017, though Isak didn’t last long. He joined Willem II on loan in 2019 before moving on to Real Sociedad rather quickly.
Still, Isak seems to have been impressed by Sancho during their brief time together. He has previously confirmed he remains good friends with Sancho and Christian Pulisic, and that he has been impressed by their development.
“We all played together for a while and they are good friends,” he said (via Goal).
“Unfortunately, I didn’t play so much at the time, but those two are good players and they’re doing big things.”

What Eddie Howe has already confirmed about signing players like Jadon Sancho
Eddie Howe has already explained why moves for players like Sancho are unlikely this summer.
While Newcastle are in a position to buy players again, talents like Sancho just look out of their budget right now unless the Manchester club were to pay a sizeable portion of his wages.
Speaking after the defeat to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, the Newcastle United manager said: “If he is already established, I think the wages and the financial package become difficult for us, speaking honestly.
“So as much as we would want and it’s much easier for me to bring in a ready-made and established world-class player, I don’t think we’ve done that since I’ve been here because we haven’t been able to do it financially.”
